What is social listening?

Social listening allows you to monitor your business’s presence on social media. It allows you to keep tabs on what is being said about your brand, your industry, or a specific topic of interest. But more than just monitoring Social Listening goes further. It then involves analysing those conversations, topics, posts, and hashtags and allows your business to then build a marketing strategy based on that analysis.

‘The Marketing Guy’ offers three types of reports, social listening, audience targeting, and a combined report:

Social Listening

Imagine knowing what people think of your business or brand, with our social listening reports you can. Social listening looks at a topic of business and explores what people are saying and what is the sentiment of people towards that topic or brand. The report will let you know the keywords that people are looking for and what hashtags they are using, all of this information allows you to make sure that your messaging is positioned in the right tone, using the right wording and with the right hashtags to make sure that it is being noticed by your intended audience.

Audience targeting

Do you know who your audience is? Or what they are interested in? Our audience targeting takes a deep dive into the social media habits of your customers, people in your industry, or what people on social media are saying about a topic or industry. The report then creates a profile of these people, it tells you their age range, personality, what their interests are, where they are based and their social media habits, for example, which days they are most active on social media and at what times. The report will also tell you who those people are influenced by and the brands that they trust. All of this information means that you can monitor people and brands of influence in your industry to make sure that any content that you produce is on topics that are of interest to your industry and sector. It also means that you have a better understanding of where your prospective customers are going to be and can target the messaging and distribution of your marketing activity to match.
